Web Ministry Workshops

Beyond Church at St Peter's MorleyThe Church Website Design Project has delivered a range of ‘web ministry’ and evangelism workshops to over 20 churches in the past three years. The workshops are delivered on a ‘best practice’ model, enabling every church to encourage all members of its congregation to get involved with the development of a new website. Our core focus is to deliver activities and modules that are both fun and informative, and to provide practical support for the generation of new content for a church website.

The workshops are delivered by an experienced presenter and are adapted to the individual needs of each church, making each workshop a unique and bespoke service. The primary focus of the workshops is to inform people of the possibilities of web ministry and to give them the encouragement to get involved with maintaining the site once it’s been developed. Many of those who attend our workshops tell us that they learn something about their own faith: the group discussions provide a safe environment for the discussion of individual beliefs and thoughts on individuals' own faith.

The workshops usually include the following modules:

  • Introduction to ‘web ministry’ and online mission
  • Why should the church communicate with the outside world?
  • Examples of ‘best practice’: other successful website projects
  • Individual Activity: Ask Jesus a question: grounding individuals in their own faith questions - presenter-led group activity
  • Questions about communication and faith - presenter-led group activity
  • What does the church mean to you? Positives and negatives - presenter-led group activity
  • Reflecting on the reality of community-based ministry
  • Creating content together – presenter-led group activity
  • Putting everything into perspective
  • Questions About Faith – answering some of the ‘Top 20 Questions About Faith’ – presenter-led group activities
  • Recap: using websites to extend church mission within the community
  • Q&A
  • Where next: suggestions for further smaller group collaboration

Usual workshop run-time: 6 hours, including breaks and lunch (suggested times 9:30am – 3:30pm). Workshops are delivered on a Saturday to allow more people to attend. Children are welcome and can be included in many of the activities throughout the day. The above list does not cover all that is possible at these workshops. We are always happy to include and amend content as necessary. The largest number of people we have accommodated in one workshop was 92, the smallest was 3. Both workshops were vastly different in structure but the outcomes were still the same. If you have questions or would like to find out how we can support your church with a workshop, please contact us today.
